Seaman is confused at the end of this chapter, because the men in camp are making battle-axes to trade with the Indians, while at the same time, the captains were trying to get the Indians to stop warring with each other.  What do you make of this situation?  Was this the right thing to do?

  1. I think the captains were right because it is never good to solve problems by war. But I also think it was stupid to sell battle- axes because they will take advantage of the weapons and use them against them.

  2. I think the captains where right because violence is never the answer. If they wanted to tell the Indians to stop warring then why sell them battle axes so that was stupid of them.

  3. I think the captains were right because warring is never the answer to your problems. I thought it was kind of dumb the captains would make weapons for the Indians if they are just going to fight with each other.

  5. I think the captains should still make the axes, but they should tell the indians that they can do what they want.that's what I would do.
