Why, at this stage of the expedition, was it so important for the captains to determine which fork of the river was the Missouri?
Because it is very important that they are not delaying the trip even more. Because now they are taking a rest because they boat needs to be fixed. So it will take them even longer to complete the expedition.
It was so important because if they take the wrong rout they will put the whole expedition off. They will also not be able to get the horses to go in the mountains with and once again that will put off the whole expedition.
Because if they went down the wrong river it would be almost impossible to go back.If they delay the expedition any more the snow will fall making it almost impossible to cross the mountains.
Because if they went up the wrong river, they would need to find their way back, cross, the mountains, and get the horses all before Winter or the snow starts to fall.

ReplyDeleteYes, but why is it so vital that they not delay the expedition any more?

ReplyDeleteThe Winter is coming soon too. So they need to go as fast as they can but carefully and not waste any more time.

ReplyDeleteSince winter is coming if they go the wrong way the triP will be off and they may posibly never get to the pacific ocean.
