Despite the warnings that they should fear the Blackfeet Indians of the area, Captain Lewis was determined to explore the source of Maria's River.  Why do you think he was so determined to do so?

  1. I think it was because the captain didn't want to get into trouble with the President because he had not explored more.

  2. I thought that the Captain wanted to make sure he had covered all the ground he could and didn't miss any so he wouldn't disappoint the President if he missed something important.

  3. I think he wanted to make sure that he covered all the flora and fawna so he could impress, not disappoint, the president with his skill.

  6. I think if he didn't go all the way to the Pacific Ocean Captain Lewis might get in trouble with the President.
